The through line of young women’s lack of sexual knowledge being played for laughs AND sexiness - (which, the Featherington sisters were absolute scene stealers this season and I loved it) is interesting to me. You can tell in those Featherington scenes that the mom is holding herself back from speaking plainly and I wonder if it’s a historical idea of propriety being taken too far. I also think the romance trope of the man bringing them into the sexual world is happening here. I was definitely one of the people who really saw their body type in the Penelope sex scenes and that representation did matter a lot to me, but one person can not cover all fat representation the way the media thinks it does!
I SO wanted a moment where Mama Featherington just LAID IT OUT for them. I think it would have been just as hilarious and more what I want to believe she would have done!
Cosign! I really wish they had let her have a great monologue in the style of "what my mother never told me that I want to tell you." I could totally see her character being a person who wants to pat herself on the back for offering more intel than her mother offered her, and it felt odd we didn't get that.
