This is my weekly roundup of links and recommendations. If we talked IRL, I’d likely derail our entire conversation with “Sidebar, have you read | watched | listened | deep dived on this?”

Today marks the debut of Lady Gaga’s Mayhem. I will be starting a chat for anyone who wants to pop in throughout the day to share their hot takes. I want to talk best Gaga tracks, Gaga lore, weird moments, whatever.

In her honor, this edition will be entirely Lady Gaga-focused.

Before I forget, thanks so much for all the kind words about my Teen Mom essay. Anna and I are so happy to be adding a new member to our family and it compounds my joy to share it with you.

Have you watched?

Remember simpler times like when Lady Gaga sang “Just Dance” on So You Think You Can Dance in 2008? This head mic/lip color situation stopped me in my tracks.

Please never forget Lady Gaga’s time on The Hills being supported by two very checked out PR professionals (one of whom made the wrong call on going to Paris):

This 2009 VMA performance of “Paparazzi” is important to me.

I love the Gaga documentary Five Foot Two (Netflix) and there is an iconic moment where she explains the tailoring on her Super Bowl jacket and the care she’s taking to make sure it allows for the “speed” with which her arm needs to move through it during the performance. She is 10000% committed and I’m all the way here for it.

I am not a fan of James Corden but I love Gaga and her time in the carpool karaoke trenches:

This is the most diabolical thing I’ve ever seen. This woman was so stressed she killed off Jo Calderone on the spot. This interviewer doesn’t miss. I cackled watching this.

Love the tape of the press conference Gaga hosted for fans this week. She is asked, among other things, about what she told Ariana during her 2020 VMA performance.
